Steve Tait
Lead Youth Worker
Steve Tait is our lead Children’s, Youth and Family Worker. Dorking based, Steve has worked in the Youth work sector for over 10 years. Initially leading the Surrey County Council’s ProjX youth work delivery, Steve later moved on to being part of Surrey Council’s Youth Support Service, working with young offenders, early interventions and Child protection/Child in Need cases. After a spell as a centre-based youth worker, he eventually becoming Youth Work Lead for the whole of Mole Valley. Steve has a vast knowledge of working with young people with specific experience in restorative practice and mentoring. Along with our team of children and youth workers, Steve is at the forefront of Belong’s delivery in the Dorking area.
Debs Harrison
Community Development Lead
Debs Harrison is our lead Community Development Worker. Debs has worked within communities across Surrey over the past 20 plus years, focussing on partnership working amongst residents, together with partners from the Voluntary, Community, Faith, Private and Public Sectors. She has been Dorking based throughout and has a passion, heart and commitment towards ensuring that local residents of all ages have opportunities to reach potentials and to thrive. Debs has an in-depth knowledge of cross sector working and specialises in Community Development in Education. Debs contributes to the strategic direction of Belong, working to help ensure that the project is sustainable, current and meaningful for our local children, young people and their families.
Clare Beresford
Operational Lead
Clare Beresford is our Operational Lead. Clare has been working locally in the Voluntary Sector, after a career in recruitment and visitor management. During over 8 years at Dorking Volunteer Centre, latterly as Voluntary Action Manager, Clare co-ordinated the running of the Volunteer Centre and “The Point” in Dorking. More recently, Clare worked at another local charity aimed at helping young people reach their full potential, gaining experience and a passion for supporting youth work and early help for young people and their families. Clare currently supports the Executive Team at a major local charity working with adults and children with disabilities, and is excited to be able to contribute to the Operational Management of the exciting new Belong Community Project.
